Residents were left doing a double take when they spotted a large snake by the roadside in a South Derbyshire village. The dead snake, believed to be a python, was found in Ingleby Lane, in Ticknall and was spotted in the early hours of Thursday, May 24, said officers from the safer neighbourhood team.

Adam Yunus, 24, of Hamstead Road, Birmingham, will appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court today after the incident in Coleridge Street, Sunny Hill, Derby, on April 27. Police rushed to the scene and found a 26-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his shoulder. A cordon was set up and between Sunnyhill Avenue and Staunton Avenue until 8pm on the day.
